D-Day In Perspective

With the recent celebration of the 80th anniversary of D-Day why don't we put it in perspective.

Suppose that your city had a nasty battle between street gangs. Not only did the gangs kill and wound many of each other but innocent people, including children walking home from school, were caught in the crossfire and killed. A tremendous amount of property damage was done and it will take the city a long time to recover.

You would probably be thinking that these degenerate thugs should be locked away in prison for the rest of their lives and never allowed to walk the streets again.

So what makes D-Day, and all wars, any different? It is exactly the same kind of death and destruction, except on a much greater scale. If they are in a street gang they are low-life criminals who get sent to prison but if they are soldiers wearing uniforms they are heroes who are given medals.

Of course it has to be this way but that is only because of how fallen our world is and how twisted our values are. I am sure that, in the view of God, there is no difference between the street gangs and D-Day. The world wars were international festivals of insanity. What if animals had social media? What would they be saying about us?
