To the east of Cairo, Egypt is in the process of building an entirely new capital city. I don't think a name has been decided on yet and "New Administrative Capital" is just the name of the building project. Building a new city is like something that one of the pharaohs would have done.
As major cities have gotten more crowded a number of countries have built new cities nearby. Indonesia is also building a new capital. Saudi Arabia is building a futuristic new city, although not because of overcrowding. I remember from childhood the news that India had built a new city next to Bombay, Navi Bombay (now Mumbai).
Let's have a look at how Egypt's new capital city is progressing. I am sure that Ramesses II, known as a great builder, would be delighted. All images from Google Street View.
