Review Of Margaret Thatcher

Readers in presidential democracies might not completely understand it but the race to succeed Boris Johnson is not a general election. As we saw in our visit to "London" in a parliamentary democracy one votes for the party, more than for the candidate as in a presidential election. If a prime minister becomes unpopular the ruling party can simply replace him with someone else and continue to govern. The ruling Conservative Party has actually chosen to make this succession race more public than they had to.

The Conservatives seem to want to choose whoever best carries the mantle of Margaret Thatcher.

My mother and Margaret Thatcher lived for exactly the same number of days. My mother's death is listed as June 9 but that is because the hospice nurse didn't arrive until after midnight.
