There is another way to describe the war in Ukraine that I have not seen. It could be called the BRICS War. BRICS is the organization that is now meeting in Kazan, in Russia. It's name is an acronym of it's original five members. BRICS could be described as the non-West.
It professes no hostility to the west but is a reflection of how much of the world thinks that the global economic order is too dominated by the west. The G7 was expanded to the G20, to be more reflective of the whole world, although the G7 still exists separately. But many people across the world consider the G20 as being still too reflective of the west, and BRICS is an effort to counterbalance that. A central issue for BRICS is to replace the U.S. Dollar as the dominant global currency.
The following image is from the Wikipedia article "BRICS".
Virtually all of the harsh condemnation of Russia for the war, and assistance and praise for Ukraine, have come from western countries that are not members of BRICS. Some member states have called for peace, and offered to meditate negotiations, but have not directly condemned Russia's war effort.
This doesn't necessarily mean that BRICS members actually support the war, just as westerners vary in their support for Ukraine, but this war could well be called "The BRICS War".
We saw BRICS in "The New World Order Of BRICS", September 2024.
