With the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral, the world's attention is on Paris. But let's remember that the extensive reconstruction of the cathedral had a lot of historical precedent behind it. In the latter part of the Nineteenth Century the entire city of Paris underwent an extensive renovation. This renovation made Paris the city that it is today and is the prototype of urban renewal everywhere. This is what made Paris the most imitated city in the world.
These weekly visits on this blog began with Paris. In December 2015 I did a visit to Paris in sympathy for the recent attack there. After that, I continued with visits to the rest of the world. There are about 200 visits altogether and it takes about four years to go around the world. We are now on our third tour of the world, although I don't go in the same order each time. The first tour ended in the summer of 2020 and the second tour earlier this year. New things are added to the visits and I am planning some new visits. The limiting factor in some visits is how well covered it is by Google Street View.
The Renovation Of Paris is described in our visit to it. Here is a link to our visit to "Paris".
